1300 366 244The Minister for Planning has approved Amendment C109wellPt1 to the Wellington Planning Scheme. The changes came into effect on Thursday 4 May 2023.
Amendment C109, as exhibited, proposed to replace the Municipal Strategic Statement (MSS) at Clause 21 and local policies at Clause 22 of the Planning Scheme with a new Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and combined Planning Policy Framework, whilst also making minor changes to a select number of local zone and overlay schedules.
At the ordinary Council Meeting of 4 October 2022, Council voted to split Planning Scheme Amendment C109 into two parts (C109wellPt1 and C019wellPt2), being:
Part 1 - The Amendment replaces the Municipal Strategic Statement (MSS) at Clause 21 and Local Planning Policy Framework (LPPF) at Clause 22 of the Wellington Planning Scheme (the Planning Scheme) with a Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) and combined Planning Policy Framework, whilst also making changes to a select number of local zone and overlay schedules consistent with:
Part 2 - Proposed deletion of Schedule 1 to the Environmental Significance Overlay (ESO1) from the residential areas in Golden Beach, Paradise Beach and the Honeysuckles.
C109wellPt1 has now been formally approved, while C109wellPt2 has been abandoned.
Amendment C109wellPt1 has made the following key changes to the Wellington Planning Scheme:
Amendment C109wellPt1 provides a more concise Planning Scheme that is easier to navigate and administer and will deliver a greater level of certainty to the community and other stakeholders.
