What is a Local Emergency Directory (LED)?

A Local Emergency Directory (LED) is a simple community emergency plan, developed by communities with Council’s support to ensure residents and visitors know what to take and what to expect should an emergency happen. It contains emergency information relevant to the nominated area.

An LED may help you find the nearest location of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), public toilets, public phone, nearest service station, CFA sheds (if relevant), public buildings and main roads in the area.

They also contain a list of websites and phone numbers that can be of assistance in times of emergency.

Please note that:

  • LED’s do not replace personal emergency plans.
  • You should be familiar with your town/ area’s LED before an emergency.
  • Leaving early is always the safest option.
