About Australia Day Awards

Wellington Shire Council's Australia Day Awards recognise and honour the outstanding achievement by individuals and groups in our community.

Past recipients have received awards in the following categories:

  • Australia Day Citizen of the Year
  • Australia Day Young Citizen of the Year
  • Community Group of the Year
  • Community Event of the Year

Please find a list of past recipients listed in the drop-down menus below.

Australia Day Awards replaced with Volunteer Celebrations

Due to lack of support and nominations from the community in previous years, Council has not conducted Australia Day Awards since 2023.

Instead, Council has celebrated community contribution through a series of National Volunteer Week events held in May each year. Further information is available on our National Volunteer Week page.

If you have questions about this change, please contact Wellington Shire Council's Wellington Centre Support Officer on 1300 366 244 or email enquiries@wellington.vic.gov.au.
