1300 366 244In early 2024, Council launched Future Wellington, a major project to engage our community and shape the long-term plans that will guide Wellington Shire through to 2041 and beyond.
After months of conversations, workshops, and collaboration with local residents, community groups and the Future Wellington Think Tank, the first of these five important strategic documents has now been adopted by Council - Community Vision 2041.
The Community Vision 2041 sets out the long-term aspirations of the people who live, work and play in Wellington. It captures what matters most to our community and outlines six guiding principles to help achieve a more connected, inclusive, sustainable and successful future.
This Vision provides the foundation for all future planning, decision-making and advocacy, guiding how Council and community will work together in the coming years.
The Council Plan 2025-29 details the strategic objectives, strategies, major initiatives and actions to be delivered over the next four years. It aligns with the Community Vision and informs annual budgeting and reporting, guiding decision-making and investment to ensure Council delivers on community expectations.
The Financial Plan sets a clear and responsible pathway for how Council will resource its strategic objectives. It forecasts income, expenditure, and funding needs to support strategic goals and service delivery, while balancing affordability with long-term sustainability.
The Asset Plan details how Council will manage and renew its infrastructure – from roads and footpaths to parks, buildings and community facilities – to ensure they meet the needs of the community by remaining safe, functional and accessible for the years ahead.
The Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan – Live Well in Wellington is a key strategic roadmap for Council to work in partnership with other health and community organisations. It focuses on improving the health, safety and wellbeing of residents, addressing local challenges and supporting opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to thrive.
Soon, all of these plans and their progress will be available in one place, a new Future Wellington website.
