Community Groups Directory

On the Middle of Everywhere, you can find all of Wellingtons Community Groups, events and services.

Building strong connections is at the heart of our goal to make Wellington an inclusive and welcoming place. Our Connection services help people come together through social events, community groups, and volunteering.

A big part of this is our Community Directory, which makes it easy to find local organisations, services, and activities that match your interests. Whether you want to join a club, volunteer, or meet new people, the Community Directory is your guide to getting involved in the community.

Multilingual Resources

Access essential information and community services in multiple languages to support our diverse population.

We want everyone in Wellington to have access to the information and services they need, no matter what language they speak. Our Multilingual Resources make it easier to find council services, community programs, health information, and safety advice in a range of languages. Explore our resources and feel at home in the community, no matter what language you speak.

Library resources:

  • Digital Resources (ebooks, audiobooks and magazines), especially BorrowBox. You can digitally borrow newspapers and magazines from around the world, and translate certain English-language titles into other languages.
  • Our Library of Things collection, particularly the Reader 2 reading pen (available soon). You can use it to scan printed text which it reads aloud to aid with literacy and comprehension. It also has a built-in dictionary to define unfamiliar words.
  • We have a small number of books in other languages in our collection, including some bilingual books. We can also access the collections of libraries across Victoria. To see what is available, you can search our library catalogue by language and use the search filters or Advanced Search to specify a language.
  • Learning English resources – books on learning English as a second language, IELTS resources, and more.

Adult Migrant English Program:

TAFE Gippsland offers courses in English as Additional Language (EAL) as part of the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) which is funded by the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs. The AMEP is a free service to help eligible migrants and humanitarian entrants with low English levels to improve their English language skills and settle into Australia.

Learning English will help you to participate more fully in Australian life. You will learn new skills to help you work and make friends in Australia.

When you are in an AMEP class, free childcare is available for children under school age.

For migrants receiving Centrelink payments, learning English in the AMEP may meet some or all of your mutual obligation requirements.
