The state government is standardising household recycling across Victoria. This includes the introduction of a 4-bin waste and recycling system. This is part of the state’s obligation under the new Circular Economy (Waste Reduction and Recycling) Act 2021.

Council will be introducing a new glass bin in line with state government requirements.

What we know so far?

  • A new 120L purple lidded bin will be provided to residents within council’s kerbside collection boundary.
  • The frequency of collection will be monthly.
  • The bin will be mandatory for residents within the collection boundaries.
  • The bin will be optional for business/commercial.

Council is in planning phase for the glass bin and will provide further updates as they develop.
