Australia Day Event Grants

Wellington Shire Council has grants available for community groups organising Australia Day Events.

Community groups wishing to conduct a ceremony to celebrate Australia Day can apply for funding. The level of support provided will depend on the capacity of the event to deliver outcomes that are beneficial to the Wellington Community and reflect the purpose of Australia Day.

Grant funding is available for Australia Day celebrations that reflect contemporary Australia: our diverse society and landscape, our remarkable achievements and our bright future. Events also provide an opportunity to reflect on our nation's history, and to consider how we can make Australia an even better place in the future.

If your event has been successful in receiving a Federal Government Australia Day Grant you are not eligible to receive funding from a Wellington Shire Council’s Australia Day Grant.

If a Federal Government Australia Day Grant application outcome is unknown at time of this application, you may still apply. However, if later notified that your event is successful in receiving a Federal Government Australia Day Grant the application for the Wellington Shire Council’s Australia Day Grant must be withdrawn.

Australia Day Event Grants are assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.
