Important Update: Libby Service Ending 1 July 2026

From 1 July, the Libby app will no longer be available to Wellington Libraries members.

Our digital eBook and audiobook collections will continue to be available through BorrowBox, which offers a user-friendly reading and listening experience, including the ability to access multiple library memberships without needing to sign in and out.

What happens to my current Libby loans and holds?

Any loans, holds, wish lists, tags, reading history, or saved items in Libby will not transfer to BorrowBox.

We recommend that you:

  • Finish any borrowed Libby titles before 1 July.
  • Take note of any titles on hold or saved lists that you would like to borrow again through BorrowBox.
  • Download and begin using BorrowBox before 1 July to familiarise yourself with the platform.

Will the same titles be available?

We expect that more than 90% of our current Libby collection will also be available through BorrowBox. While some titles may differ between platforms, we are working to ensure a smooth transition for our digital users.

Are there any changes to other digital library services?

No. uLibrary and our other digital resources will continue to operate as normal.

Why is this change happening?

By consolidating our digital collections, we can invest more effectively in our remaining platforms, providing access to more new titles and helping to reduce wait times for popular eBooks and audiobooks.

If you need assistance setting up BorrowBox or have questions about this change, please chat with the team at your local library or call Library Headquarters on 5142 3146.
