Upgrades Complete at the Stratford Recreation Reserve
Issued:
May 9, 2017

Wellington Shire Council is excited that upgrade works are complete at the Stratford Recreation Reserve with the official opening of the Netball Court taking place on Saturday 6 May 2017.

The newly constructed netball court is located on the western side of the reserve allowing closer access to the change room facilities and public amenities. The completed construction boasts a single asphalt court, installation of LED floodlighting, a shelter shed, fencing, drainage and footpath improvements.

The project cost around $207,000 including $100,000 of funding from Sport & Recreation Victoria, a $15,000 contribution by Stratford Football Netball Club and approximately $92,000 from Council. The roadworks, including the new entrance and driveway into the reserve, is funded separately.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Carolyn Crossley says, “The improved facilities are fantastic and will bring great benefits to the netball court users, particularly with the new court being relocated closer to the amenities.

“It was great to see Tim Bull, Member for Gippsland East, representatives from Stratford Football Netball Club and community members come out to support the official opening.”

In the interim, the original court will remain as a training court and future capital works will also see the inclusion of a carpark for court users. For further information contact the Natural and Built Environment team on 1300 366 244.
