Issued:
March 8, 2017

The Wellington Shire H3O Challenge was officially launched at the Central Gippsland Health Service (CGHS) cafeteria in Sale on Wednesday 8 March by Councillor Darren McCubbin and CGHS Chief Executive Officer Dr Frank Evans.

To encourage residents from across the Shire to swap their sugary drinks for water over 30 days, Wellington Shire Council has partnered with CGHS, Wellington Primary Care Partnership, Yarram & District Health Service and GippSport to promote the VicHealth H30 Challenge.

CGHS Chief Executive Officer Frank Evans said it was important for them to partner in the H3O Challenge. He said: “As a health service, it is essential that CGHS demonstrates leadership in health promotion. That’s why our aim is to make the healthy choice the easy choice.

“We will support and promote the H30 Challenge across all our sites and services as part of our Healthy Choice guidelines to address cardiovascular disease and obesity.

“We are in the process of drawing up plans to refurbish our cafeteria to support new healthy product lines and some small changes have already occurred in the cafeteria, such as the removal of all soft drinks and the inclusion of special healthy lunch events,” concluded Dr Evans.

The H3O Challenge is not a fad diet and it costs nothing to take part. All people have to do is commit to switching sugary drinks for water for 30 Days.
