The inaugural Esso Night Under the Stars free community concert will be held in Sale in November, featuring Australian pop icons Daryl Braithwaite and Wendy Stapleton.
The Sale Botanic Gardens will again be transformed into the ultimate concert space, with music performances for all ages beginning late afternoon on Saturday, 2 November.
The kids will be entertained by Tinkerbell and the Fairies, country music lovers will enjoy home-grown artist Tracy Killeen and those who can’t go past a good rock ballad will enjoy Joe Matera.
Rock and pop icon and theatre star Wendy Stapleton will also bring her sensational tribute ‘The Dusty Springfield Show’ to the stage.
The day will culminate in a performance by former lead singer of 70s pop band Sherbet and iconic Australian solo artist, Daryl Braithwaite.
The concert will be produced by the Australian Shakespeare Company.
Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall said he hoped the Esso Night Under the Stars concert would unite the community and provide an opportunity for Wellington residents to enjoy a concert at no cost.
“What a privilege to have the calibre of Australian performers such as Daryl Braithwaite and Wendy Stapleton playing in Sale,” he said.
“Wellington Shire Council is pleased to be supporting this event in partnership with Esso.
“Tickets are available for free, but they will sell out quickly, so contact The Wedge performing arts centre and secure your tickets without delay because you don’t want to miss out.
“Local football and netball clubs, along with Lions, Rotary, Scouts and other service clubs will provide food and beverages at the event, providing an important fundraising opportunity for them also.
“The Esso Night Under the Stars concert promises to be a fantastic event, so don’t miss out, we would love to see you there.”
Esso Longford Plants Manager David Anderson said supporting the arts in Wellington was important to the company.
“While our primary contribution to the community has been reliable energy supplies and highly-skilled jobs, we have also felt it important to contribute to quality of life in our community,” he said.
“The arts has always been a big part of that, through our support of events like Esso Night at the Opera in Sale and our art collection donation to the Gippsland Art Gallery.
“That’s why we are thrilled to support the Esso Night Under the Stars, which promises to be another wonderful event here in Sale.”
