Nominations for the 2020 Australia Day Awards are now open.
Now is the time to start thinking about a person, event and/or community group that has made an exceptional impression on you and deserves acknowledgement.
Council is inviting nominations across four categories:
Winners of this year’s awards were Citizen of the Year Laurie Smyth, Young Citizen of the Year Tilly Korbman, Community Event of the Year Stratford Victoria Sister Cities Committee and Event of the Year Yarram Centenary of Flight Airshow.
The Australia Day Awards recognise important community members who make a positive difference to the vibrancy within the municipality through business leadership, innovation, arts, culture, sport, social aspects and improving the lives of Wellington residents and the community at large.
Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall encouraged Wellington residents to nominate or self-nominate a person or group who is deserving of recognition.
“This is the perfect opportunity to nominate a person or group you think is making an amazing contribution to our way of life here in Wellington,” he said.
“It’s always tough choosing the winners because we have so many wonderful people in our community who do so much, not seeking recognition or thanks.”
The awards will be presented during a luncheon in December.
Nominations must be submitted using the official forms. For more information or to submit a nomination visit www.wellington.vic.gov.au/ausdayawards2020. Applications close Thursday, 31 October. For further information phone Council’s contact customer service on 1300 366 244.
