An energy boost for Yarram Recreation Reserve
Issued:
February 6, 2017

Wellington Shire Council is delighted to see the Yarram Recreation Reserve receive a grant from the Latrobe Valley Authority’s Community Facility Fund for the installation of solar energy.

Mayor Carolyn Crossley said: “This is greats news for the Yarram community and users of the recreation reserve. Congratulations to members of the reserve for their hard work in submitting an application to the Latrobe Valley Authority.

“Energy savings are a top priority for the Wellington Shire community as electricity use can be an expensive exercise when it comes to running sporting facilities, businesses and homes.

“It is great to see our local facilities benefitting from funds from the Latrobe Valley Authority and we encourage other community groups to considering submitting an application for their project under this program.”

Council is also looking at ways to reduce electricity consumption and make savings, and has recently installed solar energy panels at its depot in Sale and at The Wedge. Council will continue to consider future energy savings across our assets and facilities across the Shire.
