Community invited to have their say on draft Revenue and Rating Plan

Wellington Shire Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on its draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2026–2029, now available for public consultation.
Issued:
May 16, 2025

The Revenue and Rating Plan sets out how Council proposes to generate income over the next four years to fund essential services and infrastructure. It explains the principles used to set rates and other charges, and how funding is shared between households, businesses, and users of different Council services.

The draft Plan is a requirement under the Local Government Act 2020 and aligns with the objectives of the Council Plan. It does not include specific dollar amounts for individual rates or services, these figures are detailed in the Draft Council Budget 2025–2026, which is also open for feedback until 21 May online or 27 May in person.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Cr Scott Rossetti said the plan plays a key role in ensuring Council remains financially sustainable while delivering on community expectations.

“This plan helps us provide the facilities and services our community relies on. Everything from roads and rubbish collection to libraries and leisure centres,” Cr Rossetti said.
“We encourage everyone to take a look and share their views.”
