After Hours Emergency
1300 366 244This year’s program features a jam-packed calendar of activities, including family fun days, fitness sessions, markets, guided walks and community events, designed to showcase the diversity and value of local parks.
The highlight of the week is Baby’s Day Out, a popular event designed especially for young families. Taking place on Monday 2 March, from 10am to 1pm at Brennan Park in Sale, Baby’s Day Out is a free event for children aged 0 to 4 years and their parents and carers.
Families attending Baby’s Day Out can enjoy a fun-filled morning with a jumping castle, face painting, petting zoo, trackless train rides and a bubble-blowing display, along with engaging activities delivered by Council staff. A range of local community services will also be onsite, including Maternal Health Care Services, Uniting, Sale Toy Library, NDIS and Victoria Police, providing young families with an opportunity to connect in a relaxed outdoor setting.
In addition to Baby’s Day Out, this Parks Week includes events such as Kids’ Day Out, parkruns, movie nights, forest therapy walks, colour runs, fitness sessions and community markets across several towns and communities, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Wellington Shire Council Mayor Cindy Madeley described Parks Week as an opportunity for the whole community to come together and enjoy the region’s much-loved green spaces.
“Parks Week is a great excuse for everyone to get outside, enjoy our beautiful local parks and try something new,” Cr Madeley said.
“Whether it’s bringing the kids along to Baby’s Day Out, joining a community walk or simply spending time outdoors, I encourage people of all ages to come along and enjoy our community’s open spaces together.”
Celebrated annually across Australia and New Zealand, Parks Week recognises the role open spaces play in creating liveable towns, supporting physical and mental wellbeing and strengthening community connection. Residents are encouraged to explore the full Parks Week program and join in the celebrations throughout March.
