Celebrating all things sustainable living, the festival will bring the community together for a day of workshops, demonstrations, market stalls, tours, live music, kids’ activities and local food.

Running from 10am to 2pm on Saturday 14 March, Wellington Sustainability Festival will transform Nakunbalook Cultural and Environmental Education Centre and Seed Community Garden in Sale, near Sale Botanic Gardens, into a celebration of sustainable living.

At Nakunbalook, attendees can enjoy short talks on native food growing, conservation success stories, biochar and how home electrification can cut emissions and power bills. Over at Seed Community Garden, there are all day garden tours plus workshops on beekeeping and creating amazing compost.

Throughout the day, visitors can drop in to interactive activities including a mobile bug lab, animal storytelling, endangered animal art and family art sessions. A highlight will be the children’s Big Science Big Fun show with Fizzics Education at 12pm.

Visitors can explore renewable energy displays, browse eco-friendly market stalls and connect with local changemakers leading the way in sustainability. There will also be live music and a mouth-watering selection of pizza, vegetarian meals and BBQ from Overcoming Obstacles, Sale Girl Guides and Segue Community Kitchen, making it a perfect day out for families and friends.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Cindy Madeley said the festival was a chance for the community to come together, learn something new and have a fantastic day out.

“Whether you’re passionate about sustainability, keen to learn new skills or simply looking to attend a fun community event, Wellington Sustainability Festival promises a great day out,” she said.
