After Hours Emergency
1300 366 244Amendment C123 to the Wellington Planning Scheme proposes to update local planning policy to implement the adopted Wellington Growth Management Strategy (GMS). A copy of the adopted Wellington Growth Management Strategy is available on Council’s website.
The key purpose of the GMS was to develop a long-term framework to direct and manage future urban growth, with a focus on the role and growth potential of the six (6) main urban centres (Sale/Wurruk/Longford, Maffra, Stratford, Heyfield, Rosedale and Yarram) while also recognising the important role of inland and coastal settlements.
Amendment C123 is required to ensure that the Wellington Planning Scheme includes preferred policy directions to support future urban growth and economic development priorities to 2041. Amendment C123 does not rezone land, but instead identifies preferred strategic directions and township roles to meet long-term growth needs.
The Amendment also identifies key economic development opportunities across the Shire to support future job creation and investment.
Amendment C123well will be publically exhibited in early 2026 after the Minister for Planning has authorised preparation of the Amendment. At this time, further details of the Amendment will be provided on this web page and the community will be able to review and comment on Amendment C123well.
