You're invited to celebrate National Volunteer Week 2024

This year, Wellington Shire Council is again hosting free community events in Heyfield, Sale and Golden Beach and everyone is invited.

National Volunteer Week is the biggest celebration of volunteering in Australia and pays tribute to the hard-working volunteers who dedicate their time and skills to helping local communities thrive.

This year's theme is 'Something for Everyone'‍

Thank you events will be hosted by our Councillors and will include free food, guest speakers, lucky door prizes and networking opportunities.

During the events, you'll hear stories from prominent local volunteers on what it takes to lend a helping hand in the community. You'll also be able to chat with our Councillors to get a better understanding of how Council can support your community groups, sporting clubs and organisations to grow your volunteering database and build a team of skilled, engaged and passionate volunteers.

Whether you're a current volunteer or interested in getting involved, these events offer a great chance to explore the different ways you can pitch in and learn new skills to support your local community.

In addition to this year's lineup, we'll also be offering an exclusive volunteering expo in Sale - featuring a range of volunteering exhibitors from across the Shire. So, make sure you pop in, have a chat and make the most of this exciting event.

Events will be held at:

• Heyfield on Monday 20 May, 2pm – 4pm at the Heyfield Memorial Hall (Macfarlane Street, Heyfield)
• Sale (including volunteering expo) on Wednesday 22 May, 4pm – 6pm at The Wedge Foyer (100 Foster Street, Sale)
• Golden Beach on Thursday 23 May, 11am – 1pm at Veronica Maybury Memorial Reserve (89 Surf Edge Drive, Golden Beach)
