Councillors and Council officers nominated by the Chief Executive Officer must declare their personal interests. It is a requirement of the Local Government Act 2020 that a summary of personal interests be available on Council’s website.

A Personal Interests Return must be completed within 30 days of a Councillor or nominated Council officer commencing in their role, and then biannually in March and September of each subsequent year.

Personal Interests Returns provide one way of increasing transparency, so the public can see the shareholdings, trusts, business associations or other private interests of the people making decisions at Council.
