A Personal Interest Return must be completed within 30 days of the commencement in their role, and then biannually in March and September of each subsequent year.
The matters required to be disclosed in Personal Interests Returns are prescribed by the Local Government (Governance and Integrity Regulations) 2020. Penalties apply for false or incomplete Personal Interests Returns, and for failing to lodge within the legislated time frames.
Council is required to provide public access to a summary of the Personal Interest Returns which have been lodged within the two most recent reporting periods.
Note: The Initial Personal Interests Returns (Councillors) return has been updated in May 2021 to include the return completed by Councillor Carmel Ripper who has filled the extraordinary vacancy left by the sad passing of Councillor Malcolm Hole.
