Proposed Naming of Unnamed Road (Bartlett Road)

Proposed renaming of a road under the provisions of the Geographic Place Names Act 1998 Council is required to name the unnamed road off Sinclairs Road, Munro.

The proposed name is Bartlett Road, which commemorates the following soldiers associated with the Munro area, who fought at the Western Front during the First World War:

  • The Bartlett brothers - James, William Edward and John Albert Fitzgerald, who were from the Munro area. James and William Bartlett were killed in action and John Bartlett was returned.
  • Allan Walter Bartlett was born in Stratford and enlisted with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. He died of illness during the war.

Public comment on the proposed name is invited and may be made in writing to Place Names Committee, Wellington Shire Council, PO Box 506, Sale VIC 3850 or via email to PlaceNames@wellington.vic.gov.au.

Submissions will be accepted no later than 30 January 2018.
