This policy is provided to give direction for the naming of localities, roads and other features that are owned or maintained by Wellington Shire Council, or where Wellington Shire Council has been asked to become involved in naming a feature; ensuring that naming is consistent with community expectations, Council strategies and policies, relevant legislation and the Naming rules for places in Victoria, where applicable and providing a framework for managing requests for plaques and memorials that are to be located within Wellington Shire public space whilst protecting the intended purpose, environmental values and aesthetic appearance of Council public space.
