National Youth Week is an annual, week-long celebration of young people aged between 12 and 25 throughout Australia. In 2016, more than 23,000 young people from across Victoria participated in a range of events and activities.

This year, Wellington Shire’s Youth Council have been working closely with community groups and individuals to organise events for young people across Wellington Shire to participate in National Youth Week, which kicks off on Friday 31 March until Sunday 9 April.

Wellington Shire Youth Mayor Alex Nair said: “Youth Council are really excited to be getting involved in National Youth Week in 2017. We always try to engage with young people across the Shire to ensure we are offering events and activities that will suit people who have a range of different interests.

“I encourage young people to come along to an event and support young people across the Shire.”

The week is offering a host of different events and activities across the Shire including a Social Media Workshop, Glow Light Disco, Drumming Circle, Movies Under the Stars, Pimp Your Trike, Indigenous Hip Hop and music at ‘the Hanger’ in Sale.

A full list of events is available at www.wellington.vic.gov.au/events.

Wellington Shire Youth Council would like to thank National Youth Week, FReeZa, Yarram Unite, Ramahyuck, Uniting Care Gippsland, Creative Gippsland, Heyfield Community Centre, Rosedale Lions Club and Propellor for their involvement in organising these wonderful National Youth Week events.
