1300 366 244Wellington Shire Council and The Wedge Performing Arts Centre are proud to announce the launch of a ‘pay what you can’ ticketing trial for the upcoming show Spirit of the ANZACS, showing on Thursday 24 April 2025 at 7.30pm.
The trial is part of Council’s broader effort to make arts and recreation more accessible, especially during a time when the rising cost of living is putting pressure on many households.
From Free Swim Fridays across the Shire to free entry to Wellington Libraries and the Gippsland Art Gallery, Council is focused on ensuring that every resident has access to affordable, high-quality experiences.
In addition, all Wellington Shire students receive free access to some performances at The Wedge, subject to ticket availability. This initiative supports the next generation’s love for the arts. Students will be required to show their school-issued concession card at the box office on arrival.
“We want to make sure cost isn’t a barrier to getting involved, staying connected, or experiencing culture in our region,” said Wellington Shire Council Mayor, Cr Scott Rossetti. This ‘pay what you can’ trial is another step towards a more inclusive and accessible community.”
Spirit of the Anzacs has become a beloved tradition at The Wedge, with a powerful performance that honours the ANZAC legacy and Vietnam Veterans.
The 2025 performance from Promac Australia marks 80 years since the end of World War II, featuring songs, stories, and imagery from the 1940s through to the 1960s.
Audiences can expect music from icons such as Vera Lynn, the Andrew Sisters, Bob Dylan, John Denver and Tom Jones, along with emotional letters from soldiers and stories that bring history to life. Some laughs are guaranteed too.
Tickets for Spirit of the Anzacs are available from just $5, and those who are in a position to contribute more are encouraged to do so. Ticket prices range from $5 to $100, with all proceeds going toward supporting The Wedge, the artists, and future affordable performances for the community.
Council hopes that, if successful, the ‘pay what you can ‘model can be rolled out to more shows across the season.
