The Middle of Everywhere Jobs and Careers Fair showcase local opportunities

Wellington Shire Council is pleased to announce the return of The Middle of Everywhere Jobs and Careers Fair, a free event connecting job seekers with local employers, training providers and career pathways – all in one place.
Issued:
April 24, 2026

The event provides an opportunity for job seekers to explore a wide range of local employment and training options and connect directly with employers from across the region.

Whether entering the workforce, retraining, returning to work or considering a career change, attendees can explore opportunities across key local industries. These include Defence, public safety, health and social assistance, hospitality and tourism, trades and apprenticeships, renewable energy and mining, agriculture, education and training, professional services and recruitment, emergency services, local government and infrastructure.

Many of the opportunities on offer are suitable for people starting out, with little or no experience required. Entry level roles, on the job training, traineeships and apprenticeships will be a strong focus, making the Fair especially relevant for students, school leavers and career starters. Parents and carers are also encouraged to attend to support young people exploring their next steps, alongside training providers and employment services offering advice on pathways into work.

On the day, job seekers can:

•explore current job vacancies, apprenticeships, and training pathways

•speak directly with employers and industry professionals

•gain tips on job searching, upskilling and career development

•attend without registering – simply bring a resume and turn up

Wellington Shire Council Mayor, Cr Cindy Madeley, said the Fair is an important opportunity for locals to see what’s available close to home.

“This event is about opening doors and showing people the wide range of career opportunities available right here in Wellington Shire,” Mayor Madeley said.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have strong industries and employers who are actively looking to grow their workforce locally.”

Mayor Madeley said the event supports people at all stages of their working lives.

“Whether you’re a young person planning your future, a parent returning to work, or someone considering a career change, just come along, have a conversation and explore what’s possible. You may discover a pathway or opportunity you hadn’t previously considered.”

Representatives from major employers including Central Gippsland Health, Victoria Police, Latrobe Regional Health, Lockheed Martin Australia and Wellington Shire Council will be in attendance, offering career pathways across a broad range of industries.

The Middle of Everywhere Jobs and Careers Fair is proudly supported by Workforce Australia through the Local Jobs Program, Jobs and Skills Centres, Wellington Shire Council and The Middle of Everywhere.

The Fair will be held on Wednesday 13 May 2026, from 9.30am to 2.30pm at the Sale Memorial Hall and is open to anyone considering their next career step.
