Wellington Shire Council is ready to assist community groups with their applications for our 2019 Community Assistance Grants.

We know the task of applying for a grant can be daunting, so we have staff available to walk you through the process and help with your application during an information session.

Council currently has up to $5,000 available for community groups in the latest round of Community Assistance Grants.

These grants will be awarded to community groups and events that build capacity, promote participation and work together to maintain community assets and support cultural development.

Applications are currently been invited from not for profit groups seeking funding of $2,001 to $5,000 in the following categories:

  • Community Events - Applications will be considered for events that celebrate the community, or aspects of culture and identity.
  • Community Projects - Applications will be considered for projects that fulfil a demonstrated community need and benefit the diverse community.

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall said previous successful applicants presented strong cases of how Council funding would greatly benefit the communities of Wellington Shire.

“In the last March funding round, we were proud to provide funding to 15 community groups to the tune of $61,000 for their projects and events,” Cr Hall said.

“I look forward to seeing a broad range of applications again through this round of Community Assistance Grants and encourage groups considering seeking funding to take advantage of the assistance Council is offering to help with their applications.

“Council staff are more than willing to help you get your applications across the line, so book in for an information session.”

The information sessions will be held at the Wellington Shire Council Sale Service Centre, Desailly Street, Sale on:

  • Thursday 31 January, 12.30pm
  • Tuesday 5 February, 9am
  • Thursday 14 February, 3.30pm

Bookings essential by phoning the Grants Officer on 1300 366 244. Those in Heyfield and Yarram are also invited to call the Grants Officer to discuss an information session near them.

Council offers two rounds of Community Assistance Grants each year, in winter and summer, as well as Quick Response Grants of up to $2,000 for minor community events, projects and facilities which are available all year round.
