Do you need to prepare your property for the summer fire season? Perhaps your garden needs a spring tidy up? Wellington Shire Council’s no-fee green waste month has started, with seven of Council’s eight waste disposal facilities across the municipality ready to take your trailer-loads of garden clippings and cuttings.

For the entire month of November, ratepayers can dispose of tree branches, grass, leaf litter and more greenery for no fee at transfer stations and landfills in Kilmany, Maffra, Loch Sport, Seaspray, Heyfield, Stratford and Yarram. Green waste is not accepted at Dargo Transfer Station.

Commercial loads will be not be accepted fee free. A charge will also be applied to truck loads, loads bigger than a caged tandem trailer and logs bigger than 30cm in diameter.

Residents and all visitors are reminded that they must comply with COVID Safe requirements.

If you have other waste to dump, all of the facilities except Dargo now accept EFTPOS payments, too. So you can simply tap then tip.

If you are visiting Kilmany Transfer Station, use your empty trailer to take some of its soil conditioner home with you. It costs just $55 per metre and will give your plants a big, beautiful pre-summer boost. Kilmany also has salvaged timber for sale – great for framing your tidy new garden.
