Have your say on improving community engagement
Issued:
January 20, 2021

Good community engagement is something we are all responsible for, and Wellington Shire Council are committed to giving every local a say on the decisions and issues that matter.

Right now, Council are reviewing their Community Engagement Strategy, following Local Government Act 2020 changes, and are calling on community members to have their say on how engagement should be done.

The review gives Wellington residents and ratepayers a chance to assist in the creation of a draft community engagement strategy aimed at improving the way Council informs, involves and consults with the people of Wellington.

To help us to help you, Council are providing community sessions, where locals can discuss the strategy and its review. Register to join the following drop in or online sessions:

One-hour, online

  • Thursday 28 January, 7.30pm
  • Tuesday 2 February, 10am

Or you can simply fill out a survey at www.wellington.vic.gov.au/engagementstrategy - it only takes five minutes, but it will count for a lot when it comes time to find out what you think.

At the end of the consultation period, Council will provide a summary of feedback, present recommendations for improvements, then determine changes that should be made. The consultation period closes Thursday 4 February 2021.
