Alan, his wife Jill and their two children, fell in love with the area of Loch Sport around 20 years ago and spent many weekends travelling from Melbourne. Around ten years ago, Alan and his wife decided to move to Loch Sport, taking over the Marina Hotel.

After Alan completed National Service, he achieved a Bachelor of Business in accounting and a Graduate Diploma in Public Accounting. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia and a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants.

Alan has held senior finance and management roles in both public and private health and was the Director of Finance at the City of Ballarat.

Alan was an independent member of the Audit Committee at Wellington Shire Council for the past five years and now sits on the committee as a Councillor. He was also an independent member of the Audit Committee for the City of Melton for eight years and was Chair of the committee in his last year during 2016.
