Mayor remains cautious about Heyfield mill announcement

Wellington Shire Council has cautiously welcomed the news that the State Government has signed off on a deal to purchase Australian Sustainable Hardwood (ASH). The deal will mean job security for many of the workers at the mill, who have been living on tenterhooks and uncertain about their futures.

Maffra main street and surrounds to receive a facelift

We are currently developing draft plans to give the Maffra streetscape a $2.25 million facelift and we are looking for feedback from the community on items such as parking improvements, pavement treatments, the median strip at the pedestrian crossing and relocation of the two bus stops.

Maffra Streetscape Works

Wellington Shire Council is investing $2.25M to revitalise Maffra’s main street. Works will be focused on Johnson Street, between the roundabouts of Thompson Street and Foster Street. Work on site is planned to commence during the second quarter of 2018.
