Wellington Shire Council invites the community to provide feedback on the following draft documents developed in accordance with the new Local Government Act 2020:
Council has developed draft Governance Rules based on Council’s existing Local Law No 1 Processes of Municipal Government. The draft Governance Rules are designed to replace corresponding parts of Local Law No 1 and provide a body of work designed to provide clear understanding about how Council engages and works with the community.
Council’s Election Period Policy has also been reviewed for inclusion with the draft Governance Rules.

Notice was given at a meeting of Wellington Shire Council (Council) held on 21 July 2020, that Council resolved to amend Local Law No 1 Processes of Municipal Government (draft amended Local Law No 1). The majority, of previous provisions contained within the Local Law No 1, are transitioned to the new draft Governance Rules as per the requirements in the new Local Government Act 2020.

Any person proposing to provide feedback must do so no later than 5.00pm on Wednesday 19 August 2020. The following options are available:
Feedback will be considered and amendments deemed appropriate, will be made to the draft documents. A Council report to adopt the Draft Governance Rules, and Draft Amended Local Law No 1 will be presented at a Council Meeting on Tuesday 1 September 2020 at 3:00pm.
All feedback received will be available for public inspection and noted in Council’s Agenda and Minutes.
