Wellington Shire Rural Zones Review
Project Status: Open
Project Status: Completed

The Wellington Shire Rural Zones Review was a major rural planning project undertaken to assist in guiding future rural land use planning within the Shire.

Community consultation was undertaken during August and September 2008 and following consideration of feedback and other background investigations, a final Rural Zones Review Report was completed in January 2009.

Council adopted the final Rural Zones Review report at its meeting on 5 May 2009, except for the recommendations relating to the site specific application of the Rural Activity Zone.

A number of recommendations adopted within the Report have since been given expression within the current Wellington Planning Scheme through the adoption of Planning Scheme Amendment C55 Part 1 on 1st May 2014.  Planning Scheme Amendment C55 Part 2 was abandoned on 17 December 2013.
