Youth Councillors provide strong, positive leadership and are instigators of positive change, acting as role models and leaders within the community. Importantly they also act as a youth voice within local government.
Youth Councillors are given many opportunities to improve their leadership skills, develop a greater understanding of their community, and to work together on great projects which encourage youth participation.
Wellington Shire Youth Council consists of up to 18 motivated young people aged between 12 – 25 who live or work in the Wellington Shire, and strives to represent the community demographic.

The Youth Summit is a platform for young people 12 – 25 to come together and talk about issues that are most important to them and come up with recommendations for actions over the next 12 months.
The 2020 Youth Summit will be held on Friday 24 July.
The Wellington Youth Awards recognise the variety of ways in which young people contribute to the rich tapestry of community within the Wellington Shire.

The Wellington Youth Art Prize is open to all young artists aged 12 – 25 who live, study or work in, or have studied in Wellington Shire in the past four years.
An initiative of the Wellington Shire Youth Council, this prize is run in partnership with the Gippsland Art Gallery.

The Upswing festival recognises that physical activity, the outdoors and connections with people are all things that can contribute to maintaining good mental health.
Upswing is an opportunity for us all to get out, meet people, and see what is on offer in our community.
Upswing is held in October (generally during Mental Health Week).
Skate Fest is a showcase / competition held each year in April during Youth Week - The 2020 event will be held on Saturday 14 March.

The TAC L2P Learner Driver Mentoring Program is designed to get you into the drivers’ seat of your independence… literally!
You will be matched with a volunteer mentor driver and sponsored vehicle to get those 120 hours up and ensure your experience with L2P is second to none. You decide the time, you decide the regularity and you decide how far you’re willing to go to get your P’s.
