New laws introduced by the Victorian Government on 1 December 2019 apply to pools and spas that are capable of holding more than 300mm (30cm) of water. These include:
Prior to 1 December 2019, Pool and Spa registration with your local Council in Victoria was not mandatory. If your pool or spa was constructed prior to 1 June 2020 it will not be registered, and you are now required to register the pool or spa.
If you own a pool or spa in Wellington Shire Council, it must be registered with Wellington Shire Council prior to 1 June 2020.
Once a pool or spa is registered, it will remain registered until it is removed from the register. No further registration fees are applicable.
To register your pool please complete the Pool and Spa Registration Form (An online version of this form is expected to be available in early 2020).
Once you have completed the Pool and Spa Registration Form, Council will contact you to advise:
Pool owners will be required to submit a Certificate of Compliance to Council every four years. Council will contact you to advise when your Certificate is due to be submitted.
Certificates of Compliance are available from a registered Building Surveyor.
