Wellington Low Cost No Cost Activities Guide

Talking Transport

Talking Transport is a joint initiative between Wellington Shire’s Transport Connections and Rural Access projects in partnership with the Wellington Regional Communication Service (Scope). A number of resources have been developed to ensure public and private transport services in our shire are more accessible for people with complex communication needs. Resources include pictorial taxi communication boards and bus timetables.

Pictorial bus timetables have been developed for the North and South bus services in Sale and pictorial taxi boards have been designed for use on the Sale-Maffra taxi services. The bus timetables pictorially represent each stop on the relevant bus route, combined with an easy to navigate timetable showing which services utilise a low floor bus. It is now easy to explain to your driver where you wish to alight.

All of the picture resources can be adapted to suit individual requirements by cutting out sections to make into key rings or credit size cards to keep in your wallet for convenience.

Recharge Points

A Recharge Point is a place where people can go to recharge their mobility scooter or motorised wheelchair when they are out in their community. People can be confident that they can recharge their battery when it is low and get home safely.

People say they feel increased safety, social connection and that they no longer afraid they will be stranded by a flat battery. The Wellington Recharge Brochure tells you where the Recharge points are Wellington Shire. The Recharge Scheme is a national scheme and you can find recharge points across Australia on the Recharge Finder website.
