Current Information

There is currently no COVID-19 restrictions in place in Victoria.

The Victorian Department of Health & Human Services is the best place to keep up to date with information regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Free COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests

Wellington Shire Council is part of the Victorian Government's Council COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Program. The program will run until 30 June 2023 and is providing free rapid antigen tests (RATs) to eligible people.

RATs are now available for people living with a disability, people who are immunocompromised, or anyone who may face barriers accessing tests under normal circumstances.

To continue to help with early detection and treatment of COVID-19, free rapid antigen tests (RATs) are available to support those most vulnerable in our community, including:

  • People aged 70 years or older
  • People with a disability, immunocompromised people (self-declared) or their carer includingNDIS participants, Disability support pensioners and people with a disability who receive a Transport Accident Commission benefit
  • Commonwealth Concession Card holders including people with a Victorian Seniors card, Pensioner Concession card, Commonwealth Senior Health Care card and Health Care card, Low Income Health card and Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold, White or Orange cards

Eligible people can collect free tests from Council Customer Service Centres located in Sale and Yarram, or at any Wellington Shire library branch. Wellington libraries are located in Heyfield, Maffra, Rosedale, Sale, Stratford and Yarram.

A limit on the amount of test kits available per person will be at the discretion of Council.

COVID-19 Local Testing

Wellington Respiratory Clinic is fully operational, from the rear of Inglis Medical Centre in Sale. Appointments are required. Contact 5143 7900 or book doctors online with HotDoc.

Please continue to follow directions from the Victorian Department of Health and Gippsland PHN – get tested if you have any symptoms and cannot access a rapid antigen test.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Wellington Shire Council is NOT providing the COVID-19 vaccine. Council's customer service team cannot book COVID-19 vaccinations for you. These are not part of our community immunisation sessions.

If you want to book in for a COVID-19 vaccine via the Gippsland Region Public Health Unit, you must call the coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398.
