Current Information

Following the latest announcement from the Victorian Government, COVID-19 restrictions in regional Victoria (including Wellington Shire) have eased significantly.

The Victorian Department of Health & Human Services is the best place to keep up to date with information regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

Please continue to monitor the Victorian Department of Health & Human Services web page or Facebook page for updates.

Who can visit Council facilities?

From midnight on Friday 22 April 2022 proof of Covid-19 vaccination is no longer required to enter any Council facility. QR code and manual check-in will no longer be a requirement upon entry.

Council facilities include:

  • Customer Service Centres in Sale and Yarram
  • Any Wellington Library branch
  • The Port of Sale (Wellington Centre) including Sale Library, Gippsland Art Gallery and café
  • The Wedge Performing Arts Centre
  • Aqua Energy Leisure Centre
  • Gippsland Regional Sports Complex
  • Gippsland Regional Livestock Exchange
  • Council owned/community managed facilities including halls and sporting grounds

Face masks are not required, however recommended if you cannot physically distance.

COVID-19 Local Testing

Wellington Respiratory Clinic is fully operational, from the rear of Inglis Medical Centre in Sale. Appointments are required. Contact 5143 7900 or book doctors online with HotDoc.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Wellington Shire Council is NOT providing the COVID-19 vaccine. Council's customer service team cannot book COVID-19 vaccinations for you. These are not part of our community immunisation sessions.

Walk in vaccination appointments are available at Our Lady of Sion Catholic College (Marcellin Room) - Wednesdays between midday - 7pm. Parking is available at the former staff car park, located off Raglan Street, Sale.

Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna vaccines are available.

If you are eligible and want to book in for a COVID-19 vaccine via the Gippsland Regional Public Health Unit, you must call the coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398.

Wellington Relief Line

Wellington Shire Council has launched a Relief Information Line for members of the public who require assistance as a result of the current pandemic. The Wellington Relief Information Line number is 1300 137 218 and is open 9am-4.30pm Monday to Friday. The Line will operate until it is no longer required.

For all relief queries outside the normal business hours please contact Coronavirus state-based hotline available 24 hours each day on 1800 675 398.

CASI

Through Community Activation and Social Isolation (CASI), social, emotional and practical support is available for the residents in need of help during COVID-19. CASI can assist you to keep important connections with your family and friends, and building connection with your local organisations and support networks.

For enquires contact Wellington COVID-19 Relief Line 1300 137 218 (8:30am to 5:00pm - Monday to Friday, except public holidays) or enquiries@wellington.vic.gov.au. After hours, CASI can be access through the Victorian Coronavirus Hotline by choosing option 3 or 8 when calling 1800 675 398. This hotline is open 24 hours, 7 days.

If you are struggling with stress or finding your mental health condition peaking, and unsure where to turn, trained mental health staff (Psychologists, mental health nurses & occupational therapist) are available to support you at NO COST. Your local HeadtoHelp hub is located at 10 Inglis Street, Sale or contact 1800 595 212 (8:30am to 5:30pm - Monday to Friday, except public holidays).
