Education

Wellington Shire contains a highly skilled work force with 83% of the labour force in possession of a tertiary qualification. Of these, 18% hold a post graduate, graduate diploma or certificate and bachelor degree. Advanced Diploma and Diplomas in Certificate III and IV are the most common form of qualification with 34% of the workforce in possession.

Between 2001 and 2006, there were a large number of residents who completed further studies. Of these, there was a 130% increase in the number of residents who completed Postgraduate degrees, and a further 50% of residents who completed either a Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma and Diploma.

Most residents completed qualifications in the areas of Engineering & Related Technology based (17%) followed by Management & Commerce (8%), Health (8%), Education (7%), Architecture & Building (6%) and Society & Culture (6%).
