| | 2013 Wellington Youth Art Prize 29 March to 18 May 2013
With the theme of “Home” the 2013 Wellington Youth Art Prize is an art prize for young artists who live in Wellington Shire and is open to people from the ages of 12 to 25. The Wellington Youth Art Prize is generously sponsored by local business and individuals.
OPENING SPEAKERS: Cr Scott Rossetti, Mayor, Wellington Shire Council and Dawn Stubbs, Artist
The inaugural Wellington Youth Art Prize has seen an enthusiastic response in the medium of painting and drawing to the theme of ‘Home’ from people aged twelve to twenty-five from the Wellington Shire. The judges; Dawn Stubbs (Artist, Australian Wildlife Art Gallery), Cr Carolyn Crossley (Deputy Mayor, Wellington Shire Council and Director, Cowwarr Art Space) and Anton Vardy (Director, Gippsland Art Gallery), selected the winners on the creative inspiration and inventiveness of the works presented. The judges were impressed with the broad range of approaches the artists’ took to the theme and hope to see the prize continue annually.
