| Wellington Weed Free | | Wellington Weed Free is a project which aims to build the capacity of Wellington Shire residents, council officers and public land managers to respond effectively to weed problems across the shire.
Wellington Shire is working alongside project partners such as Landcare, Department of Primary Industries and Catchment Networks to achieve this goal.
Wellington Weed Free is an initiative that encourages local government, industry bodies and community groups to work together to inform residents of their responsibility to manage weeds. Wellington Shire provides advice, support and where available, resources to assist in the control of local weeds.
Some of the initiatives of the Wellington Weed Free project include: | |
 | mapping weeds in the shire area | | enhancement of the Weed for Trees program | | conducting community awareness and education campaigns | | having interactive displays during Weedbuster Week | | working closely with partners such as Landcare and DPI to ensure effective weed management. |
