| Community Representative Groups (CRGs) | |
| Wellington Shire Council has received a grant from the Department of Planning and Community Development’s Community Support Fund for the period of July 2006 to June 2009 to intensively support the Community Representative Group process.
This has enabled council to employ two additional community facilitators for the three year period to assist communities to establish Community Representative Groups (CRGs). A CRG is a group of people seeking to broadly represent the interests of their local community, township or area.
The aim of a CRG is to bring about positive community change by: | |
 | representing the interests and concerns of a community to those outside this community | | providing an opportunity for the community to work together on matters relating to their future direction | | providing a link between the local community and government agencies | | overseeing the development of a 'Community Plan' that captures the vision and hopes of the community, identifies key community priorities and suggests actions for addressing these priorities. |
|
|
| At the conclusion of this period Wellington Shire Council will continue to provide support to the CRG process through the existing Community Strengthening Coordinator position. | |
