| Still a major timber town, Heyfield was once home to eight sawmills, two of which are currently operational. The town also boasts the Supertruss and A.G.M. Plaster factories.
47 retail businesses are principally concentrated in two main streets in Heyfield. The town centre services the needs of approximately 1602 people and the surrounding farming and forestry community from the neighbouring districts of Tinamba, Coongulla, Glenmaggie, Denison, Cowwarr, Seaton and Licola.
Significant opportunities for revenue for the town come from tourists to Lake Glenmaggie, four wheel drive clubs, bush walkers and skiiers.
The Heyfield & District Traders and Tourism Inc. has around 38 financial members and meet monthly. | |
