| Royal Australian Air Force | | RAAF Base East Sale is the main post-graduate flight training base of the Royal Australian Air Force and is home to the famous Roulettes acrobatic display team.
A $60 million expansion by the Federal Government transformed the site into Australia’s premier officer training base. This expansion created 63 permanent new staff positions, with more than 700 extra students completing courses in Sale annually.
RAAF Base East Sale has a population of 773 permanent staff with close to 800 students passing through the base each year. It is estimated that the expansion of the RAAF Base East Sale has created a 25 per cent population increase and will bring more visitors to the region as graduation ceremonies bring families from all over Australia to Sale.

| Aerodromes | | The Wellington Shire Council operates two aerodromes within the municipality. The reporting officers listed below can provide details regarding the facilities and day to day operations and services available at West Sale and Yarram aerodromes.
Yarram Aerodrome
The Wellington Shire Council manages the Yarram Aerodrome located six kilometres from Yarram. This public aerodrome has one unlit grass runway and one gravel paved runway with pilot activated lighting and is the closest aerodrome to Bass Strait. No landing fees are levied.

West Sale Aerodrome
The Wellington Shire Council manages the West Sale Aerodrome located seven kilometres from Sale at Fulham.
The West Sale Aerodrome is a public aerodrome with a 1528 metre long, 30 metre wide, all weather sealed runway with pilot activated lighting. Full refuelling facilities are available on site including jet and helicopter fuels. Two grass runways are available. A terminal building is located at the aerodrome with car parking, public phone and waiting room facilities. No landing fees are levied.
