Helpful information for the disposal of used sandbags:
The Incident Control Centre for recent flooding is still working through the most appropriate way to collect used sandbags.
Our advice at the moment is to stack them on your nature strip, ensuring that if you also have a hard waste pile, that the two are separate and contractors can distinguish between them.
If you're eligible for hard waste, please note that sandbags will not be collected as part of your hard waste. If you add them to your hard waste collection, it will not be collected.

When placing you Hard Waste out for collection, please ensure:
The limit for hard waste materials is 1.5m³ per household. As a guide, a standard 6x4 trailer holds approx 1m³.
Our contractors will reject items which exceed the 1.5m³ limit.
Unacceptable items will not be collected.
The items will be taped and a notice will be left which explains to the householder or property owner why the items have been rejected.
The notice will request that rejected items are removed from your nature strip within a 48 hour period. Items not removed from nature strips within the designated period may incur penalties.
