Cr Malcolm Hole passed away on 10 April 2021. A by-election was held, with Cr Carmel Ripper elected to Council on 18 May 2021.

Cr Malcolm Hole passed away during his seventh consecutive term as a Councillor for Wellington Shire Council.

Following Cr Hole’s passing, the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) held a count-back of votes to fill Cr Hole’s vacancy in the Northern Ward. Cr Carmel Ripper was elected to fill Cr Hole’s role.
