Wellington Shire’s newest Australian citizens

The latest residents of Wellington Shire to take Australian citizenship were sworn in by Wellington Shire Mayor Carolyn Crossley at a citizenship ceremony at the Wellington Entertainment Centre in Sale on Wednesday 26 April 2017.

Boisdale Playground upgrade complete

Council have completed works on a $30,000 refurbishment to the Boisdale Playground. The playground was identified as needing an upgrade as part of Council’s playground renewal program.

Permit Application rejected by Council

At its meeting on Tuesday 18 April 2017, Council elected to not support a planning permit application for a second dwelling on a lot in Evelyn Drive, Sale. Council had responded to the significant concerns raised by the local community regarding the further development of the estate.

Have Your Say on the draft Budget and Council Plan

Council has released the draft 2017/18 Budget and the draft 2017/21 Council Plan for public feedback. Both documents are available for the public to review and provide feedback until 5pm on Wednesday 17 May 2017. Any member of the community can make a written submission.

Heyfield low density land supply study approved

Having considered a number of submissions made during a formal period of public exhibition, Council resolved to adopt the Heyfield Low Density Residential Land Supply Study at its meeting on Tuesday 18 April 2017.

The lights are on at Stephenson Park

New sports lighting, to comply with Australian Standards, and a power supply upgrade, have been installed at Stephenson Park in Sale. Mayor Carolyn Crossley officially switched on the new lights during a Sale City footy training session at the ground on Thursday 6 April.

Mayor looking for broader vision on regional transport

Mayor Carolyn Crossley welcomed the State Government’s announcement on improved transport services in Gippsland but says the government is still not looking broadly enough. There needs to be transport improvements across the whole of Gippsland to meet community expectations.

Seeking feedback on Silage Wrap usage and volumes

Council is seeking feedback from farmers to understand the volume of waste silage wrap created across the Shire to help determine the feasibility of the private sector establishing a plastic reprocessing facility in Gippsland for the recycling of silage wrap.
