A range of services are available through your local library service.
Become a Member
To use the library facilities all you need to do is join up as a member by visiting any one of our branches. Children under 18 must be signed up by a parent or guardian. Membership is completely free and all we require is proof of your current address.
Once you have joined the library you will be issued with a membership card. This allows you to borrow books and materials from our libraries. You may borrow up to six items and retain these items for up to two weeks.

Loans
Loans can be renewed for another two weeks, either over the telephone, in person at the library or online via our WebPAC catalogue 24 hours a day. Just have your library card handy as you will need your barcode number.
It is preferable to request an extension of loan, as there is a charge for overdue books.
Your membership of the Wellington Shire Library allows you to use any branch within the Shire that is convenient for you. It is preferred that items are returned to the library from which they were borrowed however.
Library Branches are located at Sale, Maffra, Yarram, Rosedale, Stratford and Heyfield. There is also a Mobile Library serving the outlying areas of the Shire.
If you lose or damage a book you have borrowed we will ask you to pay for the cost of repairing or replacing the book.

Tours

A Housebound Service is available for libray members who cannot get to the library for health reasons.Ask at your library for information about this service.

Children’s Programs
Children’s story time and school holiday programs are available at all branches throughout the year and many are scheduled to run on a weekly basis.
Children's programs at the library give you a break from the kids and your children get the opportunity to let their imagination run wild while learning to read and explore their creative side.

Searching for Publications
If you are looking for a book and can’t find it on our shelves but it is in our catalogue, we can reserve it for you, free of charge, so that you may borrow it as soon as it is returned to the library. Check out our online catalogue to see if your favourite book is currently available at your local library.
If we do not have the item in our catalogue we can assist you to do an Inter Library Loan. Ask library staff to help you to access "LibraryLink" on our Internet computers. This service can search the catalogue of other Victorian Public Libraries and some University Libraries. There will be a small charge for this, you will be advised of the amount before the loan goes ahead.
If you have any further queries or need help finding your way around the library to find your favourite publication, please don’t hesitate to ask our library staff. They’ll be glad to help!
