Home>Waste, Litter and Recycling>Hard Waste Collection
| Wellington Shire Council conducts an annual Hard Waste Collection each spring from residences in the declared garbage collection areas.
Check the list below of items which are acceptable and unacceptable for hard waste collection and prepare your items accordingly. Consider which items are too good for landfill. Why not sell them, swap them or donate them to charity? Find more information about recycling and reusing items to reduce your hard waste here.
The 2012 collection is complete.
Dates for the next collection will be announced during winter 2013.
| Please put hard waste products out on your nature strip for collection before 6.00am on the Monday of your allocated collection week, but not more than one week prior. | |
| We ask for your cooperation to ensure: |
| Hard waste is not placed on nature strips more than seven days prior to your collection dates. | | Hard waste products are placed on your nature strip only. | | The limit for hard waste materials is 1.5 cubic metres per household. | | No hard waste is placed over a fire plug or water valve or near a power pole. | | Hard waste must be able to be lifted / handled safely by two (2) persons in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety standards. | | Steel and scrap metal are piled separately to all other waste items. | | Unacceptable or rejected items left behind by collectors are removed from your nature strip within 48 hours of notification. |

| Hard Waste Size Limit | |
The limit for hard waste materials is 1.5 cubic metres per household.

Our contractors will reject items which exceed the 1.5 cubic metre limit.
| |
| Rejected Hard Waste | | Unacceptable items will not be collected; the items will be taped and a notice will be left which explains to the householder or property owner why the items have been rejected. The notice will request that rejected items are removed from your nature strip within a 48 hour period.
Council’s Litter Prevention Officer will follow up all instances of rejected items to ensure that they have been removed from nature strips in a timely manner. Items not removed from nature strips within the designated period may incur penalties.
If you wish to discuss rejected items or request extenuating circumstances for their removal from your nature strip, please telephone 0408 514 166.
