Hospitals and Health Services
The Central Gippsland Health Service has campuses in Heyfield, Loch Sport, Maffra, Rosedale and Sale.
The Heyfield Hospital, located at 14 Licola Road, includes 10 acute and sub-acute beds, as well as a 51 bed aged care facility, Laurina Lodge. The Loch Sport Community Health Centre on National Park Road is a clinic which provides a range of medical and health related services. It is open 5 days a week from 9.00am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday. Phone (03) 5146 0349 for more information.The Centre does not have an emergency department.
Maffra District Hospital, located at 48 Kent Street, includes 9 acute/sub-acute care beds and 30 high care residential aged care places. Services offered are inpatient medical care including palliative care and short stay treatments. Midwifery patients can receive post natal care. Community health offers programs such as Stage 3 Cardiac rehabilitation, walking and exercise groups and carers group. Outpatient services cover Maternal and Child Health, Dietician, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Podiatry and Drug and Alcohol counselling. The Gippsland Base Hospital on Guthridge Parade, Sale, has a total of 62 acute beds, a 24 hour emergency department, a level 2 neo-natal nursery and complete maternity facilities. In addition to resident specialists, visiting Medical Officers offer other specialist services in the ear, nose, throat, ophthalmology, urology and orthopaedics areas. The Division of Community Care administration offices are located in Sale, as is the Wilson Lodge Nursing Home and the Central Gippsland Health Service Community Rehabilitation Centre. Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation, the Central Gippsland Aboriginal Health Service, at 117 Foster Street in Sale, offers primary health care in Sale through 2 general practice clinics, 1 dental clinic and several outreach clinics across the wider region. Services include oral and hearing health, midwifery, child and family support, health promotion and a range of allied health services. Phone (03) 5143 1644 with enquiries.
Yarram and District Health Service, on Devon Street in Yarram, offers acute care services including a 24 hour emergency department, general medical and post surgical care, rehabilitation, respite, dialysis and palliative care. Established in 2015, Gippsland Primary Health Network is an independent, not for profit organisation that works at a regional level to achieve improved whole of system health care. They work with communities, general practice, allied health, hospitals and other primary and community health providers to drive, support and strengthen primary health in Gippsland to meet the needs of local communities.
