Head Lice

Head lice are particularly common in primary schools due to the way in which children play. They move from person to person by direct contact rather than jumping or flying as commonly thought.

There is no way to prevent head lice infection but it is easily treatable. Our Environmental Health Department can provide general advice to residents about the control of head lice.

Alternatively, you may visit the Head Lice Section of the Department of Health Victoria website for additional details or pick up a 'Scratching for Answers' information booklet from us free of charge.
