Local Laws

Every municipality has laws designed to make living in that community more enjoyable for residents. The Wellington Shire Council Local Laws are intended to assist in preserving the amenity of our municipality and reflect the needs and expectations of the community.

Our local laws are administered and enforced by authorised officers. You may know them as the Ranger or Local Laws Officers. This team are trained and skilled in upholding Local Laws, enforcing State Government Acts and Regulations and educating the public on related matters.

For general enquiries regarding Local Laws please contact Council on 1300 366 244. This number is also available for after hours emergencies only.
