Road Management Plan Review

Wellington Shire Council is reviewing its Road Management Plan. Our Road Management Plan establishes processes and sets standards in relation to the inspection, maintenance and repair of roads and paths for which we are responsible under the Road Management Act 2004. Council is required under the Act to set appropriate standards and priorities, based on its available resources, in relation to road management duties. The purpose of this review is to ensure these standards and priories are appropriate.

Wellington Shire Council maintains a very extensive public road network of approximately 3,100km in length. There are also many roads throughout the municipality which are not currently maintained, as they are not required for use by the general public. The Road Management Plan contains a criteria to assess whether or not a road will be maintained by Council. This criteria has been a focus of the current review.

A copy of the current Road Management Plan 2013 and Draft Road Management Plan 2017, is available below. Hard copies of both documents are also available to view at Wellington Shire Council Service Centers located at Sale and Yarram.

Any member of our community is welcome to make submissions in relation to the Draft Road Management Plan. Submissions will be open until 30 April 2017.
